Firefox 3.0 was released in June of 2008 and featured an upgraded Gecko rendering engine and security and interface enhancements.
Mozzila has announced that Firefox Version 3.0 is coming to the end of the road . According to the Mozilla developer’s weekly meeting notes, there will be no more updates for Firefox 3.0.x following the release of version 3.0.19, the last security and stability update to the 3.0.x branch. The plan were to close Firefox 3.0 at the beginning of the year but it seems that the problems regarding the launch of Firefox 3.6 have given 3.0 a few more months of life.

I think that Mozila is realizing the fact that recession is not nearly over and therefore right now it is more important than ever to get ahead of competitors. The financial situation has slowed the development process of course but Mozila is capable of keeping its position on top of the market due to improvements just like the new release of Firefox 3.6.
