With a very interesting move, Intel buys the software security giant McAfee for $7.8bln  and the Cable Modem Unit from Texas Instruments for an undisclosed amount. Almost one yeag ago, Intel bough Wind River, a world leader in embedded and mobile software and apparently with the acquisition of McAfee, Intel tries to become one of the big players in the handheld market.

The acquisition of the Texas Instruments’ cable modem product line will put Intel on a strong position in the consumer electronics market and mainly in the home entertainment sector.
